Psalm 16

Verse 2 – David recognizes:
“You, LORD are my Master.”
“I am the Your servant.”

 

Verse 2 – David recognizes:
“The LORD is all-sufficient within Himself. Plus, I have no good of which I could bring to Him.”
“I petition Him only because of His loving kindness. I cannot give Him anything in exchange to earn it.”
This is grace through faith alone.

 

Verse 3 – David recognizes:
While the LORD is all-sufficient, He loves His people. He does delight in His people.
“I also love, serve and delight in His people.”

 

Verse 4 – David recognizes:
“There is only one God who is worthy of my worship. You alone have power to grant my request. In You alone is joy.”
“I will not turn to any other.”
