Psalm 141

David prayed with an attitude of:
– Desperation – from seeing his situation accurately.
– Dependency – from seeing his own power accurately.
– Being more concerned with the evil inside of him than the evil of the people around him.
– Having a greater fear of God than of man.
– God’s concerns came first – then his.

David prayed for sanctification:
– That the LORD would guard the words of his mouth.
– By the grace of God.
– That the LORD would not draw his heart to evil. (that He would restrain the evil within me)
– Knowing he needed God’s grace inwardly.
– Knowing that deeds come from the heart.
– That the LORD would keep him from evil people and their worldly pleasures.
– That he would not be associated with them.
– That he would not love what they love.
– That the LORD would use righteous men to “strike” him with loving correction, rather than be counted with the wicked.
