Exodus 17 – Water From the Rock
What does it mean to test the Lord?
1. They grumbled ABOUT God, as if He wasn’t there.
2. They quarreled with God’s servants, asking the creature to supply what only the Creator can.
3. They tried God. They sat in the judge’s seat and saw God as the defendant, They demanded answers from God.
4. They were faithless, in spite of God’s faithfulness.
5. They were more concerned with their own “needs” than they were of God’s glory or purpose.

Water from the Rock was a Gospel foreshadowing.
– Christ is the Rock (1 Corinthians 10:4).
– He was “struck” in the place of His people.
– He was struck by a man.
– He was struck by God.
– He was struck by the rod of judgment.
– He was struck once.
– From the Rock flowed the water of life.
– The Spirit flows out to God’s people.
– To flow from human hearts as a fountain of life.
