1. The NT makes a distinction between sin and trespasses.
2. We are to forgive others their debts/trespasses.
3. In Romans 5, the original sin of Adam that has been credited to all of us is called a “trespass” (6x).
4. Jesus compares our debt to God with the debt that is owed to us by other’s trespasses against us (Matt. 18).
5. Jesus taught that we will love God in proportion to the amount of debt we are forgiven (Luke 7:47).
6. Jesus Christ is our guilt offering that pays for all our debt.
